Where AI helps a small clinic, and where it must not
Reminders, letters and summaries are good fits. Diagnosis and patient records are not.
Good fits
Appointment reminder wording, referral letter templates, staff rota notes, FAQ replies about opening hours and parking, and summaries of non-clinical meetings.
Hard limits
Never paste identifiable patient information into a general AI tool. Never use AI output as clinical advice. Check your local privacy rules and your practice system's own approved features first.
Write the rules down
A one-page policy of what can and cannot go into a prompt keeps the whole team safe and confident. Review it every quarter.
